Welcome to MFA Degree Hub

At MFA Degree Hub, we believe that every artist deserves a clear, compassionate roadmap to earning their Master of Fine Arts degree. Whether you're scribbling poetry at 2 a.m., sketching in a studio at dawn, or rehearsing monologues in an empty theater, this site was created to help you navigate the often overwhelming world of MFA programs with confidence and clarity.

What We Do

MFA Degree Hub is your trusted, ad-free resource for everything related to graduate-level fine arts education in the United States and beyond. We don’t just list programs—we demystify them. Our goal is to empower artists, writers, and performers with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions about their creative futures.

Topics We Cover

We explore the full spectrum of MFA experiences, including:

  • Comprehensive profiles of top MFA programs in creative writing, visual arts, theater, film, and interdisciplinary arts
  • Step-by-step guidance through applications, portfolios, statements of purpose, and recommendation letters
  • Funding opportunities: fellowships, teaching assistantships, and scholarships
  • Real stories from current students and alumni about life in residency, work-life balance, and post-graduation paths
  • Career trajectories beyond academia: publishing, arts administration, freelance work, and community engagement

About the Creator

I’m Callie Windham—an MFA graduate in Creative Writing, a former admissions reader, and a lifelong advocate for artists navigating the transition from student to professional. After spending years helping applicants refine their portfolios and statements, I saw how much confusion and misinformation surrounded the MFA landscape. That’s why I started MFA Degree Hub: to create the resource I wish I’d had.

Though I now live in Auckland, New Zealand, my work is deeply rooted in the U.S. MFA ecosystem, where I’ve collaborated with faculty, attended workshops, and mentored emerging artists. My perspective is global, but my focus remains on serving the needs of U.S.-focused applicants.

Why This Website Exists

The MFA journey shouldn’t be a mystery. Too many talented artists miss out on opportunities—not because they aren’t ready, but because they don’t know where to begin. I created MFA Degree Hub to cut through the noise, eliminate gatekeeping, and offer honest, practical advice from someone who’s been in the trenches.

Our Values

We believe in:

  • Transparency: No sponsored listings, no hidden agendas—just clear, unbiased information.
  • Inclusivity: Art belongs to everyone, regardless of background, income, or location.
  • Integrity: Every article is researched, fact-checked, and written with care.
  • Community: We’re not just a website—we’re a growing network of artists supporting each other.
